2007 Season Report

Well, how did it all go then?

The easiest way of reviewing the year is to see how well we performed against the team objectives for 2007 so here we go in no particualr order:

  • Compete in the 2007 BPCC season , with the aim of a top 3 championship finish.

  • Both teams performed awesomely! The guys finished 2nd overall in PC1 and the championship, narrowly missing out on 1st place by just 2 points. Congratualtions to Radioactive Racing for pipping us at the post, the championship really did go down to the last few laps of the last race! Of course not finishing 1st leaves us room for improvement for 2008! Overall championship results can be seen here

The girls came an outstanding 2nd place in the PCF class and 13th overall, which for a newly formed team for 2007 is quite an achievement. We did not have enough female drivers in PCF to enter each round which makes the result even more impressive. Lets hope that the PCF side of the BPCC takes off over the next few years with many more teams competing.

One of the highlights for the 2007 season was the guys team winning the 24hr race at Margham Park. This is a seriously tough event and the highlight of the BPCC calendar. A brilliant team effort where our endurance performance shone through.

  • Compete in the European Championships pedal car race in Blackbushe

  • Again another top result with the guys taking first place and the European Championship, all battled over the course of a tough weekend. Thanks to the European teams who managed to make it all the way to Blackbushe.

  • Purchase an Apollo F-Type Pedal Car

  • Actually Rob bought the car with the rest of us helping to do the tweaking! It looks like this car will be used by the girls next season since there is now a slightly newer Apollo sat in James and Sue's garage for the guys team to run for 2008.

  • Develop the car over Winter 06/07, with the aim of reducing mass, improving efficiency and driver ergonomics

  • Well we certainly did our fair share of dismantling and building over the course of the season, some intentional, some not so! A few trick parts added here and there along with matching paint jobs for both cars kept us in championship contention throughout the season.

  • Recruit at least two new drivers to improve the squad diversity and have more versatility for the 2007 season

  • You can view all our drivers here. 2007 saw the addition of Sue, James, Andy and Laura.

  • Establish a female team

  • This we certainly did with the season performance coming at the 24hr event at Margham Park where the 4 girls did a superb job and showed excellent mental strength. (Most teams have 6 drivers for this event)
